Roller Derby Girl
May 26th, 2010
There’s a new pic in the illustration section of my Portfolio.
When I was on the plane to the US more than a month ago I watched the very charming “Whip It” with Ellen Page, Juliette Lewis etc. directed by Drew Barrymore. I realized I’d love to see a true game of Roller Derby. So I went with some friends in Portland!
It was F.U.N.!!! It was silly, it didn’t take itself too serious and it was very very entertaining. Also I really liked their outfits. They could have worn more make- up, but I guess it gets really sweaty and it doesn’t make much sense.
So, that’s what got me inspired to do this pic!:)

If I was 15 years younger, single, and a cartoon, I’d so hit that.
Hehe, funny, somebody said the same thing to me once!:D
Heh … I just watched a “Food Network Challenge” where the competitors had to make cakes based on rollerderby teams. Alas, the cable company I get my tv signal from does not broadcast rollerderby. Used to watch all the time when I was younger – we got it on a couple of channels where I grew up.
I WANT MY ROLLERDERBY DANGIT!
Seu trabalho é muito bom e bonito. Parabéns!
Obrigado!^^
Hi. A friend of mine pinched your picture to use for her roller derby club. She’s asked me to make it into a format for Merchandise but I told her not until I could verify permission for using it.
Just wondering if you’d be happy with the Cairns Roller Derby Bratz using your image (Juniors) they want to change some colours and get rid of the tattoo and lighten up her face (So she doesn’t look so aggressive for the juniors.)
Otherwise I’ll be directing them to some stock image sites so they don’t run into future copyright issues For reference this is a bunch of home mums trying to get out on a Thursday night. It’s not professionally league or anything fancy.
I love great artwork!
