In case you’re wondering why there’s no real gag in today’s strip, I just had an outburst of sentimentality.
There really did happen very much over the last year and a half and I just had to express my thankfulness for everybody who reads and enjoys my comic. It’s the best thing in the world when you can say that you’re exactly doing in life what you wanted to do when you were a kid.
Thanks, dear readers for encouraging me!:)
I know EXACTLY how you feel. I quit my job almost a year ago to focus on my artwork and have been making a living doing so ever since, I got married to a wonderful man in June, I live in a great little house, and because I’m working for myself, I’m finally able to spend as much time as I please with family. My health has improved tremendously over the past few years, and in the months since I quit my job I’ve been loving life in the absence of allergic reactions and customer-borne illnesses. lol
Life is good in Lyddie-Land! ^_^
My life hasn’t improved one bit in the last year. Maybe I’m holding my pencil wrong…
I have a special place in my heart for sentimental comics. For instance, last Christmas, all us VG Cats fans were expecting Scott to put some cheesy, possibly violent holiday gag. Instead, he put up, well… you can go see it if you want. It was wonderful. However, I don’t like posting links on people’s comics to OTHER people’s comics, since it feels like advertising, even when I’m just trying to make a point by relating it. I guess I’ll just say go to his site, click the Archive, and look around the bottom for “The Perfect Gift”.
Anyway, shutting up about insane Canadians now. I really like the spinning top and you guys walking away in the last panel.
Is Bobby a real person? Is that his real name? Or does he simply represent the things you love about your life (and here I thought that’s what El Fungo represented). Whatever, congratulations! This strip feels like a reason to congratulate you.
Fantastic reference. Best movie I’ve seen all year.
Congratulations Sarah! Your success is well deserved–your work is outstanding!
Great strip Sarah! It’s so nice to hear that an artist you love is having the life she always wanted! Hugs!
@Fu; Yeah, I loved the VG Cats last Christmas!
Masterfully done! If only we all could do exactly what we wanted to do as kids…
… Of course, for some of us, that would require dinosaurs with saddles…
Thanks for all your nice feedback. I’m relieved the strip was well received even when it has no major punchline.
@Lydia: Sounds like you made some happy decisions, too!! ^^
@Miss Hedgey: Maybe next year? Give it some time…
@Fu: I will check out VG Cats now! Infortunately I myself don’t have too much time to read other people’s webcomic. Thanks for the tip!
By the way, “Bobby” is just another inside gag from pop culture. Google “bobby shower dallas” and you’ll find out. The guy in my strip is called Dennis and he exists only in my head.
@Keryl: Glad you noticed it!:)
After a hard day at University, it’s great to come back and read this strip. Well done and bravo!
I think it is nice to have strips like this every now and then. They’re refreshing!
Hm, life for me has gotten a little better. It’s not my dream job by any means, but I have great insurance and pay, and I don’t have to work with the customers. I graduated in 2004 and I still don’t know what I want to do!
Aw, dang it! I probably knew that his name was Dennis, too. I’d probably see that if I went back to the strip with the party. Well, I guess it doesn’t matter too much if he’s not real.
nice Inception gag
