Fact is: I never went camping. Never spent one single night in a tent. Not that I think that I wouldn’t enjoy it, but I simply never had the occasion. Nonetheless I will be going OUTSIDE today visiting a zoo and lots of little dwarf penguins who inhabit it. That might be a start. ^^

I went hiking a few months back. It’s been years since my last hike. It has a different feel to it when you are equipped with a smartphone that can call anyone you want and give directions with a satellite map of your location.
Oh, so you took a smarphone? Cheatin’! Where’s the fun if you can’t get lost in the woods with some murderer with a hook for a hand just escaped the asylum running around?
Just kidding.
In my experience it’s *very* over-rated. It’s mostly chores, insect bites/stings, poison ivy (or other plant allergies), junk food (and expensive, bad tasting junk food at that!), smelly outhouses, lack of shower/bathing facilities (if you decide to *REALLY* “rough it”…), etc. (And if it rains hard enough or someone gets sick or injured, you’re looking at a very *special* brand of misery!)
So camp if you dare; but it’s not always the happy, bucolic experience that some people make it out to be.
