While I’m working hard on my disinheritance here, I can only emphasize again that I really don’t care about soccer. Or sports in general as long as I’m not exercising myself-
But every time Germany plays against Italy I get asked THIS special question: Who do you root for?!
And my answer is always the same: I reallyreallyreally don’t care. Patriotism simply doesn’t work with me. Not with sports, not in general. Maybe because of my binationality? I can’t tell…

I’m right there with you. I tell folks I’m from Kansas, and they’re like “Are you KU or KState!?” Uh… I don’t even know what sport they play, sorry.
“Patriotism simply doesn’t work with me. Not with sports, not in general. Maybe because of my binationality? I can’t tell…”
Patriotism generally doesn’t work with me because it usually tends to descend into ultra-nationalism, nativism, jingoism and violence. Loving one’s country is one thing. Using that as an excuse to hate others is unacceptable. (And hating someone — or many people — just because they went to a different school or support a different sports team is just damn stupid!)
I agree with you Sarah, all I want is a good, clean and fair game.
