Yeah, like a boss!…

Well. Not really. But I’m optimistic! I’m optimistic that one fine day I’ll finally learn to negotiate. And in the meantime I’ll nourish from the crumbs I find between my sofa cushions. Sigh.

I guess everybody has these days on which you feel you have to fight for everything. But I’m still convinced I can learn on how to kick some ass one day! And maybe my favourite, uhm, role models might help me with that…

First of all I’d like to tell you the solution for last Monday’s super-riddle.

None other than SPORELOCK HOLMES himself committed this gruesome crime! If you’re looking for product number 544 in the mentioned Nerdbirds Shop  you’ll find  this special ring! Doesn’t it look familiar? Of course! It’s the same ring our evil mushroom wears to complete his fake detective appearance. Evil genius or just utter brazenness?

Well, today’s comic might help you to find the answer to this question . :/

Also, on the matter of the SOPA bill which seeks to go after pirates and counterfeiters, I personally think that this is NOT the solution to the problem. To in effect block sites and build a “nationwide firewall” as a part of the civil and human rights community calls it, would indeed mean censorship.

It also could mean, for example, that you readers would not be able to read this site in the US anymore, because it is being blocked by some DNS filtering system. Or, that a cartoonist could be sentenced because someone on his site linked to something that is copyrighted. Also, check out the brilliant Mr Kris Straub‘s opinion on this matter.

Sorry, but I finally had to get it out of my system- A Skyrim comic!

I hope the strip still remains understandable if you aren’t into the game.

I guess the term “Graphic Novel” has also arrived in Germany by now. I personally don’t care whether I call them comics, graphic novels or Paper-O-Matic 3000. I just hope that the image of comic books will change in Germany and that more people will come to read them.

P.S.: I haven’t read Habibi yet, so I don’t mean to criticize this book at all.

Just to explain this a little bit more cause I realized it might be necessary for you international readers: For some time now we’ve been having a discussion in Germany about the term “Graphic Novel” because the book trade is using it to label some comics as something ‘better’ as in ‘more sophisticated’ than the usual comics. Comics and comic books as a form in general are not treated with much respect here and seen as kids stuff. To get the book trade to jump on the band wagon, the publishers here literally slap stickers saying ‘Graphic Novel’ on books they deem worthy.

Stupid? Yeah, I think so. Understandable from a selling point of view? Certainly.

But I still don’t like the fact that there is a trench between comics and Graphic Novels and it’s getting deeper and wider.

The Smurfs! They are one of my earliest memories of comic-reading, along with Tintin, Lucky Luke, Asterix and Batman, really. Haven’t read them in a long time… What about you, dear readers? Any of you read them as a child?

You might notice the navigation buttons are gone right now and I don’t see how I can restore them. I have been wanting to update this site to Comicpress 2.9 for a long time now, so any help in guiding me through an installation is deeply appreciated! :/

I suppose everybody knows that kind of person who forces his mood on everybody else in the room. There’s something magic about it. The only thing which helps me in these situations is to retreat into my “inner Zen garden” and hum a little song.

You might notice that my hair is different in today’s comic. That’s because it is different in real life, too. I decided to adapt my drawn hair to my real hair from now on since it changed at least a hundred times since the comic started in 2009. I’m going for a little Ramona Flowers here (it’s all short in the back) as you can NOT see in the pic.

I also received a wonderful post-Christmas gift from one of my readers. Ponyfarm cookies! I’ve got Ngumbe, Buttercup and El Fungo here tasting like chocolate and vanilla. That’s how I like them the most!!!^^

I can never escape procrastination as long as the internet exists.

Happy new year everybody!!! I hope you all celebrated it the way you wanted it to. I played a very amusing board game named Zombies and watched British sitcoms with my dear friends. It was actually very comfortable to watch the fireworks from the inside of my cozy home avoiding the war-like scenario outside. And I spent New Year’s Eve in Skyrim of course. After that I feel quite motivated for the new year’s first task: doing my taxes. XD
